Some of these crystals are incredibly transparent and gemmy with a Golden hue on the base or all over the crystal, while others have twirling clouds of almost invisible micro-inclusions that produce a bluish opalescence when held up to the light, leading some of its users to baptize it Blue Smoke Quartz. This subtle color effect is produced by the same light scattering properties that make the sky blue.
